ATE returns to Sydney in 2017

The largest Australia annual travel and tourism business-to-business event, the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE), will be held at the brand new ICC (International Convention Centre) Sydney in 2017.

Tourism Australia Managing Director John O Sullivan said while ATE has previously been held in Sydney international delegates attending the event next year could expect to experience city that continues to be transformed by continued investment in new tourism infrastructure.

"The Australian Tourism Exchange is singularly the most significant business to business tourism trade event that Tourism Australia delivers each year, attracting more than 2,300 delegates from more than 30 countries including Australia, to meet and do business to grow international visitation to our country," Mr O Sullivan said.

"With a range of new infrastructure coming online the timing of ATE could not be better for shining the spotlight on the harbour of the stunning new attributes in the city and further cementing Sydney and status of Australia as a world-class destination for leisure and business.

"A highlight of course will be the hosting of ATE for the first time at the new ICC Sydney, which is due to open later this year and will bring to the city a new integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct in Daring Harbour in Sydney for delegates to experience first-hand."

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said ATE presents a great opportunity to bring the tourism industry together.

"Our wonderful State never fails to impress and I am excited by the tourism opportunities that ATE 2017 will bring to Sydney and Regional NSW, cementing our position as one of the most desirable tourism and business event destinations in the world."

ICC Sydney, a brand new AU$1.5 billion development, is opening in December 2016 just ahead of ATE Media Marketplace on 12 to 14 May 2017 and ATE17 from 14 to 18 May 2017.
