NCPC BOSS INUAGURATES THE FEDERAL MEDICAL COMMITTEE FOR 2016 PILGRIMAGE

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has inaugurated the Federal Medical Committee for the 2016 Christian Pilgrimage to Israel, Greece and Rome.

While inaugurating members of the Committee at NCPC Corporate headquarters, Abuja. Rev. Uja admonished that the word of God is the only answer to all the problems of man.

His words: "we need to put the word of God in our hearts". He explained that mercy and truth are important in Christian teachings stressing that only truth could set a man free.

The NCPC boss affirmed that healing is spiritual but that modern medicine has helped the health life of the people. He stressed the need for the medical committee to always put their trust in God.

He tasked them to demonstrate leadership quality in the cause of their assignment. His words: "I will like all of us to see ourselves as leaders to give our nation help".

Rev. Uja called on Nigerian Medical Professionals to see their profession more of a calling than a career. He stated that it would be a shame to take people on pilgrimage to any country and over there issues of health challenges are detected.

Thus, he called on them to carryout medical advocacy to enlighten people on health related issues.

Rev. Uja further maintained that it is the duty of Medical Professionals to give the people the benefits of their education so as to focus on preventive medicine rather than curative.

He further urged them to ensure they give attention to the spiritual. His words: "I will like this Committee to provide attention to spiritual and mental health".

He explained that serving Nigeria should be a joy and a pride as Nigeria is a covenant nation. He said: "your labour to Nigeria will open the door to the future".

The Executive Secretary also reiterated that the Committee has international commitment as well as commitment to Nigeria and should live up to expectation.

In his response, the Chairman of the Federal Medical Committee, Dr. Joseph Ahmedu, described their assignment as a great one, stressing that the members of the Committee were chosen by God.

He stated that he was optimistic that God would help them achieve their objectives to make NCPC and Nigeria proud.

He explained that though the Committee was working behind schedule, but would be able to make the necessary adjustments to be able to achieve their targets.

Dr. Ahmedu assured that his Committee would review the programme of activities of the Committee and fast track the selection of the Federal Medical Team.

The Chairman promised to be fair and just to everybody. According to him: "if you do not meet the cutoff point you won't be involved".

He emphasized that the process of the Federal Medical Team must be followed strictly. He affirmed: "as Christians we should be seem doing the right thing".

He urged the members of the committee to shun anything that would bring the country to shame considering the fact that their assignment is both offshore and onshore.

Dr. Ahmedu assured the NCPC boss that his Committee would strive to ensure that the objectives of Christian Pilgrimage would be achieved.

About twelve man Committee of the (FMC) were drawn from professional medical personnel from different health Institutions across the country.
