South African Tourism unveils 'SA Specialists' in Lagos

The South African Tourism (SAT) has formally unveiled some of the graduates who has successfully completed its official specialist programme and qualified as 'SA Specialist' at the prestigious Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos recently.

The Trade Relations Manager - West Africa, South African Tourism, Mr. Mohammed Kwajaffa disclosed that the SA Specialist programme is a self-study online course designed to equip travel product and service providers to sell South Africa more effectively.

"As a way to celebrate the graduates as South African travel experts, the presentation of certificates to the awardees as Certified SA Specialists is paramount; it will further revealed the reality and the commitment of South African Tourism about the programme", Kwajaffa said.

In his short address, Regional Manager - West Africa, South African Tourism, Mr. Hloni Pitso in his welcome address highlighted the primary objective of the SA Specialist programme as a way of having competent travel experts to advise clients on all essential aspects of travel to South Africa.

Pitso further admonished the SA Specialists to see their certification having been equipped by the course as an opportunity to promote and market South Africa as a foremost destination in Africa.

Prior to the presentation of certificates, there was a round-table 'Speed Networking Session' for business card exchange. It was a unique opportunity for the SA Specialists to meet various South African travel trade professionals on
business prospects and establishment of rewarding business relationship.

Among the organizations represented at the speed networking session are Joburg Tourism, Hilton Worldwide, Legend Tours, Syavaya, Capital Hotel Group, Tsogo, Sun International, and South African Airways (SAA).

The climax of the event was when the South African Tourism organised the raffle draw where seven winners among the SA Specialists emerged and will be sponsored on a week all expenses paid fam-trip to South Africa to have a practical experience of the country tourism potentials.

Also, South African Airways donated two return flight tickets for the raffle draw on Lagos - Johannesburg route and Accra - Washington route and won by another two lucky winners.

One of the affle draw lucky winners, a Consultant with Sweetours Holidays, Mrs. Tomi Akinsulire commended the high level of transparency exhibited by South African Tourism to picked the winners. She said the one week fam-trip to South Africa will be a lifetime experience and a great opportunity to excel during the course of selling South Africa tourism products.

All guest were entertained and thrilled by the South African cultural dancers as they displayed mesmerizing dancing steps to the admiration of the graduates and guests prior to a sumptuous dinner on the courtesy of South African Tourism at the occasion.

Prominent among the guests who graced the occasion are Regional Director - Africa, South African Tourism, Evelyn Mahlaba; Consul - General, South African High Commission, Lagos, Ambassador Mokgethi Monaisa; Country Manager - Nigeria, South Africa Tourism, Thobi Duma; President, National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), Alhaji Aminu Agoha; President, Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), Nkereuwem Onung; and CEO, Topcomm Limited, Mr. Temitope Ogbeni-Awe.
